Ebro’s Delta Field Trip
Duration: ~8 hours.
Departure time and place: 9am from the Symposium venue.
The main objective of this activity is to visit the Ebro Delta, one of the most important and representative Mediterranean coastal wetland located in Spain. The Delta is highly sensitive to climate change and alterations in its river basin. Some examples include sea-level rise, sediment retention by largedams and flow reduction. The field trip will take place on the morning and early afternoon on March, the 14th, 2015 , followed by a lunch at mid afternoon. The field trip provides the opportunity to visit several coastal habitat types within the Delta, where all sites are particularly good for bird watching. The activity has also the aim to introduce ourselves to some traditional activities carried out in the Delta during the last decades, such as fishing or production of salt in the saltpans and tasting traditional Delta’s food.
